8/16/10 - Good news from George! Leave your feedback in the feedback form for him!
The Porsche rally is always one of the highlights of my summer. It is always great to visit and socialize with our customers outside of the setting of the shop, and to see all of your great cars together in one place at the same time. Normally, I would never miss the rally, but this year I had an extraordinary event that I needed to attend.
My son Brian is 12 years old, and has been involved in junior golf programs for the last four years, competing in many tournaments and events throughout the northwest. The last four years he has qualified to participate in the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship, held at Pinehurst in North Carolina. This is one of the largest and most respected junior golf events in the country, attracting about 1300 players from 35 countries around the world. In his age group there are usually about 150 competitors. The previous three years he has played well, but never finished higher than a tie for 21st place.
This year he set a goal to place in the top ten, which would qualify him to play in the World Cup, one final round of match play between the top ten 12 year old boys from the United States and the top ten 12 year old International boys. Not only did he reach his goal, but he ended up placing 2nd in his age group! During his three rounds he shot 71, 69, and 68, and ended up finishing at eight under par. For those of you that are familiar with golf, you understand the magnitude of his accomplishment. If you are not familiar with golf, rest assured that golf is both a physically and mentally challenging sport, difficult for even those who have mastered it. Needless to say, my wife Robin and I are very proud, and overwhelmed that he played so well. I should mention also that the weather conditions were severe, with daily temperatures in the high 90’s and punishing levels of humidity. For a player used to the relatively mild climate of the Pacific Northwest, it was a major accomplishment for Brian just to acclimate to the conditions there. Brian qualified and went on to play in the World Cup, and the United States team successfully defeated the International team, the icing on the cake of an incredible week.
I wish that I could have been at the Porsche rally, as I understand that it was a great success. However, I had an incredible experience that I will never forget, and I hope that all of you can understand and appreciate why I had to miss it. I look forward to seeing all of you next year. Thank you for your continued business and support!
Best wishes,
George
